Skiing in Valencia

Valencia - Where you can enjoy mild winters by the coast and have a choice nearby ski resorts. Valdelinares is located in the Sierra de Gudar in the Spanish region of Aragon just across the northwest boarder of Valencia. This is a beautiful area of Spain and it has been virtually untouched by international tourism, so it is a great place to explore as well as going for a good days skiing.
You'll find the resort of Valdelinares, near the city of Teruel just over one hours drive from Valencia and the Mediterranean coastline. The resort has eight pistes - two green, three blue and three red runs for the more experienced - serviced by five drag lifts and three chair lifts. The resort has four cafes, including a small café-bar at the bottom of one of the pistes, a ski school and equipment hire shops. There's no accommodation within the resort itself but there are plenty of hotels in the nearby pretty villages.
The resort is growing in popularity among the Spanish who visit for the weekend from all over Aragon, Catalonia and Valencia. The 6.5 kilometres of runs are kept open throughout an extended season assisted with the aid of 100 snow cannons.
The après-ski here is good and can be enjoyed in one of the resort's cafes. But you'll find some wonderful bars and restaurants in local villages such as Alcala de la Selva and Mora de los Rubielos. You will find that you will be able to enjoy the finest Aragon cuisine at a fraction of the price charged in the more popular Alpine resorts.
There is also the other very popular ski resort of Javalambre in this area, both are within 1 hour 15 minutes of Valencia and its beaches. Javalambre resort has seven pistes consisting of one red run, four blues and two greens and all the facilities including a ski school, full equipment hire, bars and cafés all on offer. This too boasts fantastic scenery and is a great place for a family ski day.
